About the C.L.A.S.S. system
American Micro Tech has gone to great lengths with field testing and direct input from school secretaries, parents and administrators, to ensure that C.L.A.S.S. is simple to use. The kiosk touch screen interface guides users through the process with easy to read menus and intuitive flow. Minimal training is required; usually a brief introduction is all that is needed for parents and visitors.
For office personnel, data entry is kept to a minimum with import functions from most existing student databases. This data can be updated when necessary without overwriting existing data. Once a student's information has been imported into C.L.A.S.S., it is retained for successive grades, until the student is transferred/graduates. This allows guardian and volunteer information, including kiosk events, to be retained to eliminate the need to re-enter data in the new school years. Our innovative "save for office" function practically eliminates time consuming data entry. New kiosk users scan their license or school issued ID card and key in a pin number. If they are not in the database, they touch the "save for office" button. This allows the office to retrieve this data and automatically fill in appropriate fields in the database after verifying the identity of the individual. This function is used when adding a new guardian or volunteer, as well as issuing a "quick badge" for authorized visitors.
C.L.A.S.S. was designed to streamline and simplify the all important task of ensuring students arrive and are released from school in a safe and well documented fashion. We are continually looking for input from all those involved in school safety and security for improvements or customization for jurisdictional needs or requirements.
